As visitors flock to the land of magical pyramids, where can locals go to experience some magic nearby?<br/>Luckily there are a number of amazing destinations to explore, and all just a short flight away from Cairo.<br/>Check out this calendar of countries and plan a holiday or weekend escape for each month of the year.<br/>January in Lebanon: If you are planning a winter trip, the Land of the Cedars will give you a warm welcome in spite of the cold January weather. Head to "Kfardebian", a region with a multitude of ski resorts and enjoy the best of winter sports. Arrive a little earlier during December and celebrate an amazing New Years Eve in a country that has refined the art of memorable celebrations. <br/>February in Oman: One of the best times to enjoy the unspoilt sunshine of the Sultanate of Oman, and enjoy the charm of the spectacular desert. Don’t miss Muscat, a fascinating and historical city with large, decorative mosques, palaces and old souks. <br/>Take a drive (around an hour and half) up to Green Mountain and immerse yourself in the tranquility of mother nature. There’s a huge variety of hotels to suit any budget, and the hospitality of Omani’s is legendary.<br/>March on the island of Tenerife: This island is one of the most beautiful of Spain’s Canary Islands and attracts visitors from all around the world. A visit to the island has something for everyone, including the smallest of kids. <br/>The south west coast offers a spectacular vantage point for whale watching, and seaside dining wouldn’t be complete without sampling some of the local shrimp.<br/>April in Dubai: Dubai has earned its name as ‘the Emirate of dreams and wonderful experiences’ and April is a great month to visit, when the climate is at its best. Enjoy the golden beaches, take a boat ride in Madinat Jumeirah, and shop at the Dubai Mall - the largest shopping mall in the world.<br/>Go ice skating at the Mall of the Emirates, visit the Atlantis Aquarium and more. Take your time and save some money by searching for the cheapest hotels in Dubai so you can spend more in all those wonderful shops. <br/>May in Mauritius: Laying off the coast of Africa, Mauritius sits in the glorious Indian Ocean. The beaches are nothing short of spectacular - it’s pure tropical bliss. <br/>So impressed with Mauritius was famous author Mark Twain, he once said ‘You gather the idea that Mauritius was made first and then heaven, and that heaven was copied after Mauritius". Enjoy the best of the island during summer in May.<br/>June in Sweden: Smart travellers visit Sweden around the end of June at the height of summer where the sun shines right up until midnight.<br/>Enjoy the beauty of Stockholm which consists of 14 islands uniquely connected by 57 bridges.<br/>Take a tour by boat or on the unusual Ocean Bus, an amphibious vehicle that runs on land and over water. Celebrate midsummer by dancing around a maypole with visitors and locals. <br/>July in Cyprus: Cyprus is loaded with an amazing coastline and incredible beaches. Plan your visit with a beach tour - Vrysoudia A Beach in Paphos, Pissouri Beach in Lemesos, Agia Triada Beach in Paralimni, Pyla Beach in Larnaca, Protaras Beach in Protaras, or Vathia Gonia Beach in Agia Napa. <br/>Bask under the warm July sun and dance at rocking summer events. <br/>August in Germany: In the heart of Europe, Germany has plenty of amazing experiences. Visit ‘Miniatur Wunderland’ in Hamburg, the largest model railway in the world, and one of the most successful permanent exhibitions in Northern Germany, or take a boat tour down the Rhein River or visit some of the small villages in the Black Forest, one of the most charming forests in the world.<br/>September in Tuscany: September is great in Tuscany - warm without being too hot. Cruise the beautiful Tuscan countryside and stop in and see some of the great masterpieces of Leonardo da Vinci, Michelangelo, Botticelli, Giotto and Donatello. <br/>October in Qatar: There’s lots to do in Qatar to keep you entertained. Check out the Souq Waqif teeming with a dazzling array of Middle Eastern goods including spices and seasonal delicacies to perfumes, jewellery, clothing, handcrafts and a treasure trove of bargains. The Museum of Islamic art is a must and Katara Cultural Village is great fun, as well as educational. <br/>November in India: A little further afield, but still a relatively short flight time, India is great during November and March when the weather is cooler and dry. Delhi, Agra, Varanasi, Rajasthan and Madhya Pradesh all enjoy ideal weather during these months, or take a desert safari in the Golden City of Jaisalmer.<br/>December in London: London has a fairy tale like feel to it at Christmas and December is a great to visit and take in all the magic. <br/>Wander the glittering streets of the city decorated with Christmas cheer, and explore the incredible botanic gardens at Kew. For some movie fun go behind the scenes at Warner Bros. Studios and get some insights into the incredible skills that go into making your favourite movies.<br/>It might be high season but you can always book cheap flights on Wego ahead of time and save loads.<br/>
